We helped Women’s Aid raise awareness of their new children’s homicide report, resulting in a change to the law that helps ensure these deaths never happen again.

In the UK, family courts have always presumed it’s in a child’s best interest to see both parents, even when one was known to be abusive. This has led to 19 more children being killed by an abusive parent. All preventable, if only they had been heard in court. To change that, we staged a protest outside Parliament that no one could ignore. We assembled a choir of 19 children singing and were then gradually being silenced, one by one, representing the children whose voices were silenced and who lost their lives. The campaign and efforts by Women’s Aid were so successful that the law has changed, and the presumption of contact has been removed.
